Rundown runs entirely on your Mac. This policy covers what it handles and how.

Data we collect

None. No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising. We cannot see your documents and receive nothing from the app.

Your documents

Rundown reads and writes only what you choose, through the Open panel or the Finder. Apple's App Sandbox blocks every other file.

To reopen recent files and folders without asking again, Rundown keeps security-scoped bookmarks in its own container. Bookmarks to deleted items are dropped. Documents are never copied, uploaded or transmitted.

Network access

Rundown makes no network requests. It holds the sandbox's outgoing-network permission only because WebKit's helper processes require it, even for local content.

A content security policy blocks everything from the internet. Remote images never load, so opening a document cannot tell anyone you read it.

Links you click go to your default browser or mail app, under that app's terms.

Preferences

Theme, text size, the lock and the last folder you opened are kept in the standard macOS preferences system. They never leave your Mac.

Purchases

The 14-day trial and the one-time unlock are Mac App Store in-app purchases, processed by Apple under its own privacy terms. We never see your payment details or Apple Account. Rundown reads the App Store's purchase record on your Mac to know which applies.

Crash logs

After a crash, Rundown writes a short log to its sandbox container. Nothing is sent automatically. If you share crash reports with developers through macOS, Apple delivers them under its own terms.

Camera, microphone, location and contacts

Rundown never requests access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, calendars or location, and has no code that could.

Third parties

No third-party SDKs, ad networks, crash reporters or analytics. The only third-party code is Mermaid, an open-source library that draws diagrams locally and makes no network requests. No data is shared or sold.

Your control over your data

Your documents are ordinary files in the Finder. Everything else (preferences, bookmarks, crash logs) lives in the app's sandbox container. Deleting the container removes it all and leaves your documents untouched.

Children

Rundown collects no data from anyone, children under 13 included.

Changes to this policy

Updates are posted here with a new date. Significant changes are noted in the release notes.
